'Effort and Communication' EMNS at Free Fest, Surrey University 19th May
Last Autumn, Filament were lucky enough to receive a commission from Surrey University’s Institute for Sustainability and GSA, to create a new episode for our mass choral work, ‘Earth Makes No Sound’.
‘Effort and Communication’ is inspired by interviews with Surrey University Senior Lecturer in Environmental Engineering, Dr Bing Guo and members of her research team.
Dr Guo is working on how to remove traces of antibiotics from our waste water. At present the amount which still exists in our drinking water, even after it has been treated, is building up our antibiotic resistance and if something is not done about this - by 2050 we could have a big problem on our hands.
Since interviewing Dr Guo, we have been working with eleven university students and five members of the local community to create this new section and also recreate ‘Plastic Tide’ and ‘Ancient Hearts’. This fifteen minute poop up version of EMNS will be at Free Fest, Surrey University on 19th May at 12pm, 2.30pm and 5.15pm. COME ALONG!
